ConCom Safety works with Bucks New University who is the founder of the International Centre for Crowd Management and Security Studies.
Consultants and leaders in event security train here. This is done to ensure that they have the leading international knowledge. But in order to ensure that Danish knowledge is maintained, all personnel must go through our own education in event security.
All staff in ConCom Safety is trained in crowd psychology, crowd dynamics, incident management and many other areas in order to be able to perform Crowd Safety Management correct.
In addition, staff is authorized by the National Police as controllers.
When personnel are affiliated with ConCom Safety, they begin a process of courses which includes practical training for events concurrent with theoretical training. This way, you obtain crew who carry out their work based on practical training supported by theoretical knowledge, and this exact process has given the industry great success.
ConCom Safety has helped creating the International Safety Training Association, an association of training centers in Europe. This group has been created to share knowledge and standards, but also to influence the industry to comply with agreed educational standards.
ConCom Safety's training department is called Event School, and can be used by all those with an interest in educating its staff.
Academic degree
In recent years, a need for documented skills in management and planning level in the security industry has evolved. Hence in England a Foundation Degree and a Bachelor in Crowd Safety Management has been developed. These academic programs are filled to capacity every year, and many of the leading security consultants and security managers endorse these courses. Bachelor in Crowd Safety Management is a brand new degree, and only one group has completed it, but new groups are on the way, and this will be the future. ConCom Safety has staff which either has completed it or is in the process of completing both Foundation Degree and Bachelor Degree in Crowd Safety Management.
Professional courses
Bucks New University has developed a course for Crowd Safety Managers, in which you must complete 5 of 8 courses. The courses include for instance logistics, management, emergency management, law, economics, and front stage security. Several of ConCom Safety's employees have completed such courses, and have also completed specialized courses developed in audience dynamics. Common to these courses is that Bucks New University and the Centre for Crowd Management and Security Studies vouches for the quality and content of these courses.
Seminars and conferences
Consultants in ConCom Safety regularly participate in seminars and conferences in Europe. This can be both as participants, but also as speakers. These international or national events bring together some of the leading players in the industry, and therefore ConCom Safety views it as important to participate in order to influence the other players positively by sharing knowledge and experience.
Authorization
In 2008, the law on security at major sporting events was passed. This was the first step towards an authorization in event security. To achieve this certification, it is necessary to go through a training program with the Danish Football Association, and subsequently be approved by the police. The program is football oriented and is mainly about how to provide security for high profile football matches. The authorization focuses on public safety and by obtaining this and supplementing with knowledge and education concerning concerts and other events, you get a well-trained security officer.
